The Opportunity:
McArthur is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer, to support our client in a complex environment with manual processing and customization. This is a casual position offering full time hours, until the 5th of February 2026.
Prior experience within Local Government and using the system Chris21 is highly desirable.
Key responsibilities:
- Support end-to-end payroll process for all Council employees
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including contract details, tax and superannuation information, and leave balances, ensuring data integrity across all payroll systems.
- Respond to payroll-related enquiries from staff and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with the Fair Work Act, ATO obligations, and superannuation legislation. Assist with audit preparation.
- Generate standard and ad hoc payroll reports, month-end and year-end payroll reporting tasks.
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrate the ability to efficiently and accurately process end to end payroll functions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in Chris21.
