About your environment

Since our establishment in 1936,
Cancer Council Victoria
has developed an international reputation for our innovative work in
cancer research
,
prevention
and
support
. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, we play a leading role in reducing the impact of all cancers on all people.

The
Prevention Division
aims to prevent cancer for all Victorians. This is done through community interventions, mass media, advocacy, training and providing policy advice based on the best available evidence. This involves action to affect individual behaviours and the broader physical and legislative environment to reduce cancer risk. We prioritise health inequalities, especially in relation to Aboriginal people, and in culturally diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities.

UNIT SUMMARY

The Quit program is a joint initiative of Cancer Council Victoria, the Department of Health and VicHealth. Quit's purpose is to end the devastating impact of tobacco and vapes on Victorian people and communities. Quit Victoria is focused on equitably reducing tobacco related harm across Victoria through social marketing campaigns, policy and advocacy, research and evaluation, and health & community systems level initiatives to prevent uptake of smoking and /or vaping and increase cessation support for all Victorians.

Reporting to the Health Systems Manager your role is to:

  • Apply your knowledge of the Victorian public health system and service delivery models to explore innovative approaches to embedding smoking and vaping cessation support into routine care in health services and promoting smoke and vape-free environments
  • Develop new tools and approaches to support people who engage with health services on their quitting journey and the healthcare professionals who provide this support
  • Seek opportunities to engage and collaborate with peak groups and partner organisations to share knowledge, minimise duplication and amplify activity across the tobacco and vaping control sector
  • Provide sound advice and recommendations to your manager and colleagues to support workflow processes and procedures across Quit and the Prevention Unit.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects/programs and developing and maintaining partnerships within the health and/or government sector
