Prominent Hill is a copper-gold mine, a long-life asset, that is part of the BHP South Australia copper province. BHP is a global company with operations in Australia, North and South America across 5 different commodities.

Prominent Hill, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)

8 days on; 6 days off (or equivalent)

In This Role You Will

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of surveyors.
  • Conduct regular time in field and Field Leadership activities to ensure critical controls are in place and effective.
  • Review, develop and maintain safe and effective working practices and standards for the survey department.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of survey requirements within the underground mine.
  • Maintain survey control infrastructure and conduct necessary check traverses.
  • Manage adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements related to mine surveying activities.
  • Update and maintain mine plans for both internal and external regulatory use.
  • Undertake incident investigations as required and implement actions leading to continuous improvement of the site's safety performance.
  • Manage survey inputs into the End Of Month reporting process.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Surveying.
  • SA Drivers Licence (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in underground mine surveying, demonstrating a strong understanding of underground mining methods and survey systems.
  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to integrate well into a collaborative team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate survey activities and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Passion for mine safety and the ability to be a safety leader.
  • Experience with Deswik software (including MDM) and end-of-month processes and systems.
