We administer the Australian Government's National Interest Account (NIA), including the Critical Minerals Facility (CMF), the Defence Export Facility (DEF), the Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility (SEAIFF) and loans for the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP).

We also provide support to other Commonwealth entities, including AIFFP, Housing Australia, the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC) and the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF). We have offices across Australia and Southeast

YOUR NEW ROLE

Location: Sydney

Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

The General Manager, Strategy & Major Project Governance reports to the Chief of Staff & Chief Strategy Officer.

This role manages the end-to-end strategic planning process across the organisation, ensuring alignment with Government mandates and clear linkages between organisational and divisional objectives. The role is a critical enabler to drive ongoing buy-in across all levels and locations of the organisation for the delivery of the four-year Strategy through a systematic and rigorous approach to business planning performance reporting and major project governance.

The General Manager, Strategy & Major Projects Governance will work closely with the Executive and senior leadership team to develop a new governance framework. You will take a partnership approach and work collaboratively with existing projects, committees and working groups to identify opportunities to effect positive change.

You will lead and provide strategic counsel to cross-functional major projects and initiatives, ensuring appropriate governance practices are in place for successful delivery of strategic initiatives with measurable business outcomes and strong cross-team alignment. This position supervises a business planning resource to provide enterprise-wide support for the delivery of the Strategic Plan.

ABOUT YOU

Strategic Planning

• Supports the Chief of Staff & Chief Strategy Officer to develop and drive the Strategic Plan and business planning processes
• Works collaboratively with the Executive team to ensure that the strategy is aligned to business priorities
• Leads an innovative Strategy communications program to ensure ongoing opportunities for leaders and employees to engage on strategy content and discussion
• Develops and executes effective business planning strategies to map and prioritise projects, identify resourcing and other functional and operational requirements to assist and inform workforce planning
• Anticipate and identify needs of the Executive in relation to strategic projects and initiatives

Executive Support

• Provide strategic advice to the CSCS to support the Executive, supporting informed decisions and aligning organisational objectives
• Collaborate with the Managing Director & CEO and senior leadership to develop a clear, outcome-focused agenda aligned with strategic objectives

Major Project Governance

• Establish, document and implement a governance framework to ensure the successful execution of strategic initiatives across the organisation
• Develop and consolidate tools, templates and practices to ensure consistent and standardised methodologies and make these available to all teams

Project Oversight, Reporting and Assurance

• Facilitate regular communication and coordination between the Executive Committee, Strategy Committee, Continuous Improvement Forum and the ICT Project Management Office to share insights and promote best practices
• Develop a model to provide enterprise-wide visibility to the Executive and oversight of major projects, ensuring appropriate sponsorship, strategic alignment, prioritisation and resource allocation

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in strategic planning, project management, or leadership roles delivering complex programs in a large or complex financial services or government organisation
• Experience in complex organisations within government, banking and financial services, consulting, or relevant public policy/economic development roles
• Sophisticated understanding of government institutions, policy frameworks, and processes.
• Extensive corporate strategy experience working with senior Executives and Boards
• Knowledge of and interest in international markets, geopolitics and government affairs
