About the Role

We are looking for a DevOps and Backend Developer to join our team, whose key function will be supporting the secure, scalable, and high-performing infrastructure behind our software solutions.

  • Manage cloud infrastructure, security, and deployment pipelines
  • Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs
  • Drive automation, performance, and system reliability

ACESGroup is seeking a motivated DevOps and Backend Developer to join our growing technology team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and optimising AWS-hosted systems, managing software deployments, and supporting backend development across multiple projects. You'll work closely with developers, and the Tech Lead to ensure secure, stable, and scalable environments for business applications.

Please note: This role is office-based, with the option for one Work From Home day after the first 6 months of employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain AWS environments, deployments, and infrastructure
  • Implement and monitor security, access controls, and permissions management
  • Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and integrations
  • Support database architecture, schema design, and data storage optimisation
  • Automate system processes and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure reliability, scalability, and best practice standards
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system and deployment issues

About You

  • 2 years of experience in DevOps or backend development roles
  • Strong interest in secure cloud infrastructure and automation
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organisational habits
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative approach to teamwork
  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, RDS, IAM, S3, CloudFormation, and ECS
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline
  • Strong understanding of security principles, permissions, and role-based access
  • Solid backend development skills with , Python, or similar languages
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB
  • Experience with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting (CloudWatch, ELK, or similar).
