Employee Benefits

Operating our Network is a 24/7 job, and we have a roster of shift work to support this. Once trained, you'll have the potential to form part of this roster, working a combination of day and night shifts as required. In addition to a competitive remuneration package of $140,000 + superannuation, you'll be eligible for:

  • Performance bonus of up to 10%
  • Shift Allowance when on roster
  • Paid Overtime
  • 17.5% leave loading
  • 15 days personal/carer's leave per year
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave for the primary carer or 4 weeks as the secondary carer
  • Flexibility to utilise public holiday leave entitlements for other cultural celebrations
  • Additional paid volunteering and office closure leave

The Opportunity

The Trainee Transmission System Operator forms part of the Network Operations team, providing expert advice and support to ensure the highest level of transmission network reliability is maintained.

As a Trainee you will be working under direct supervision and will receive on-the-job training to develop competency in the real time operation, monitoring, coordination, and control of South Australia's transmission system. The training program will extend over months and will require shift work to provide the full breadth of experience required in the role. On completion of the training program, you will perform roster relief and project support until a permanent position on the roster becomes available.

About You

We will consider applicants who are either an Electrical trade skilled worker or who have an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (or higher), both with a current (or past) ElectraNet switching Licence Category 2 and with proven experience in the field.

A strong understanding of the operation and control of high-voltage power systems and equipment is essential, along with an awareness of substation and transmission system components, performance, and operation.

You will also demonstrate the ability to work across many tasks concurrently and on critical high-risk work activities with thoughtfulness and clear intent. Your strong communication skills will be key in this environment and will allow you to engage with and influence a diverse stakeholder group in a complex, technical environment.

Join our team and make a lasting impact on South Australia's energy future.
