Opportunity

Career defining opportunity for Chief Architect of large federal government Agency undertaking multiple transformation programs. Large, distributed business stakeholders and ICT department following Scaled Agile. The architecture is 100% in the cloud (AWS and Azure), with large enterprise scale programs cutting across Salesforce CRM, ERP (legacy SAP HCM and Financials operating in shared-services model), datalakes (Teradata to Snowflake), Analytics, and Digital (monolith to microservices, mobile, accessibility).

Candidates across Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane will be considered.

The Chief Architect will

  • Drive the Enterprise Architecture, future-state roadmaps, ensure programs align to roadmap, influencing the future direction of the agency's ICT investment
  • Mentor and support both Domain and Solution Architects (20+) distributed in the business and across multiple transformation programs
  • Developing and maintaining relevant roadmaps, reference models, standards and Enterprise Architecture artefacts
  • Represent the Agency across government technical forums, on behalf of the CIO - internal and external
  • Support with investment prioritisation & future state to maximise the ROI and benefits to the organisation, ensuring that the available ICT resources are optimally utilised, and the future demand is predicted
  • Provide advisory services on ICT for investment recommendations, business cases, and contribute to briefs, risk assessments, committee papers and reports
  • Ensure compliance with information security, privacy, and data protection policies and frameworks (eg PSPF, ISM, Essential 8, ISO27001, ISO31000 etc)
  • Present Enterprise Architecture reference models, principles, policies, standards, and roadmaps to a diverse stakeholder groups (business and ICT)
  • Contribute to Architecture governance forums Architecture Review Board and Technology Committees

About you

  • 10+ years' operating as an Enterprise Architect with background in technical or business delivery (eg Development backgroud)
  • Strong, demonstrated knowledge of claims processing, insurance - required
  • Understanding of Machinery of Government (MOC) within Commonwealth or at State level and experience working with multiple departments/agencies, cross department engagement and influence (strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering large scale architectural change driving innovation, best practice and enterprise agility
  • Demonstrated success in aligning technology capabilities to achieve business goals across the enterprise - deep business and ICT engagement across multiple business units and states
  • Collaboration across government and contribute to the wider Australian Commonwealth Government Architecture (shared services model impacts)
  • Demonstrated success in evaluating, recommending and promoting the adoption of emerging technologies and ICT products for organisation benefit
  • Commitment to ethical and professional standards, promoting integrity, compliance with legislation & public sector values - in particular adherence to transparent, ethical Commonwealth Procurement guidelines when assessing, selecting, onboarding and working with vendors and consultancies
  • Tertiary ICT qualifications (Bachelor's minimum, Master's preferred) plus TOGAF certified or equivalent IT architectural qualification (eg Zachman)
  • Experience working on multi-cloud-based environment (AWS and Azure)
  • DevOps, DataOps, DevSecOps
  • Exeperience driving digital transformation (monolith to microservices, containerisation, distributed architecture)
