Shape procurement for a healthier Queensland| Build strong supplier partnerships | Drive innovation and savings
The role
As Chief Procurement Officer, you will lead Queensland Health's procurement function, overseeing a total spend of $3.3 billion across the state. Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Corporate Services Division, you will be a key architect of Queensland Health's procurement strategy, driving innovation, resilience, and value across the entire health system.
This is a pivotal leadership role that requires vision, influence, and execution. You will shape a future-focused procurement function that is agile, customer-centric, and aligned with Queensland Health's commitment to delivering world-class healthcare. Your leadership will be instrumental in transforming procurement into a strategic enabler, one that delivers measurable savings, enhances supplier performance, and ensures supply security across both medical and non-medical categories.
You will champion a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, building a high-performing team and fostering strong partnerships across government, industry, and the health system. As a visible and influential leader, you will position Queensland Health as a "customer of choice" and a leader in public sector procurement.
The Successful Person
You will be a proven and accomplished procurement leader with extensive experience in delivering transformative outcomes across large, complex organisations. You will bring
- Extensive experience leading high-performing procurement functions across diverse and complex spend categories, ideally including both medical and non-medical, with a focus on delivering measurable value and system-wide impact.
- Strategic foresight and the ability to translate complex challenges into innovative procurement strategies that drive efficiency, resilience, and long-term value for customers and stakeholders.
- Deep expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, and procurement transformation, with a strong understanding of public sector governance and accountability.
- Exceptional commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and financial literacy, enabling you to secure optimal outcomes while managing risk and ensuring compliance.
- Outstanding leadership capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, develop, and empower diverse teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Influential stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build enduring relationships across government, industry, and clinical environments, and to advocate for procurement as a strategic enabler of healthcare excellence.
- A commitment to public value, with a strong sense of purpose, integrity, and a passion for delivering better outcomes for Queenslanders through smarter, more sustainable procurement.
