The Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga is seeking a highly capable Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Leadership Team.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this pivotal role provides strategic and operational leadership across finance, governance, information technology, and capital works, ensuring resources are managed with integrity, transparency, and purpose.

As CFO, you will play a key role in shaping the system's financial sustainability, governance, and infrastructure. You'll guide and mentor teams across schools and the system office, ensuring that stewardship, compliance, and innovation underpin every decision.

What you'll do

  • Partner with the Executive Director and Executive Leadership Team to deliver financial, governance, technology and infrastructure strategies aligned with CEDWW's mission.
  • Lead and mentor teams across Finance, Governance, IT and Capital Works to deliver collaborative, high-performing outcomes.
  • Support the Executive Director in meeting their financial reporting obligations to diocesan governance bodies, including the Catholic Education Council and Diocesan Finance Council.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning and reporting, ensuring transparent, responsible and sustainable management of resources across 29 schools and the system office.
  • Provide leadership in risk management, governance, compliance and audit, maintaining integrity and accountability in all operations.
  • Direct the development and delivery of capital works and facilities plans that create contemporary, safe and inspiring learning environments.
  • Champion digital transformation through a robust, secure and future-focused IT strategy.
  • Represent CEDWW in external forums, government consultations and Catholic education networks across NSW.

About you

You're a strategic, values-driven leader who combines commercial acumen with empathy and integrity. You bring curiosity, fairness, and courage to your work, guiding teams through change with confidence and care.

You'll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
  • CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • At least 7–10 years' senior finance or executive leadership experience across complex organisations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial management, governance, technology, and resource stewardship.
  • Proven ability to mentor teams, build trusted relationships, and lead with integrity.
  • Current Working with Children Check, National Criminal History Check and Driver's Licence
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education.
