About the role
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Fleet to oversee the performance, compliance, and lifecycle management of our heavy vehicle fleet. This senior leadership role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency across our transport and maintenance operations.
You will lead a skilled team of workshop managers, mechanics, and fleet administrators, while working closely with operations, safety, and procurement to drive continuous improvement across the business.
- Lead the strategic management of our heavy vehicle fleet, including maintenance, asset utilisation, and lifecycle planning
- Oversee all workshop operations including external vendors, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to maximise vehicle uptime and reliability
- Manage supplier relationships, contracts, and procurement of fleet-related services and equipment
- Monitor fleet performance metrics and deliver improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with NHVR, PBS, and all relevant safety and environmental regulations
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing maintenance and fleet operations team
- Partner with senior leadership to align fleet strategy with business growth
About You

You take ownership of fleet performance with pride, ensuring every vehicle, schedule, and strategy runs like clockwork. You stay sharp on compliance and confident in your planning, keeping safety high and costs low. Whether you're partnering with drivers or presenting to leadership, your work keeps the business efficient, agile, and ready for what's next.
- Proven experience in a senior fleet management or heavy vehicle maintenance leadership role
- Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle regulations, compliance frameworks, and workshop best practices
- Commercially astute with experience managing budgets, contracts, and supplier negotiations
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to engage and motivate diverse teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
- Relevant qualifications in heavy vehicle maintenance, fleet management, or transport operations (desirable)
