Baralaba State School is seeking a dedicated Head of Special Education Services to lead the implementation of the school inclusion framework across a supportive cluster of three schools.
You will coordinate inclusive education practices across Baralaba State School, Theodore State School, and Bauhinia State School, with a 0.8 FTE shared cluster allocation and a 0.2 FTE component at Baralaba State School as the base.
This leadership opportunity is available from 22 January to 11 December 2026, with possibility of extension, unless otherwise determined.

Your opportunity
Baralaba State School is seeking a passionate and collaborative Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) to lead inclusive education across our cluster. You will coordinate the Special Education Program to provide high-quality advice and support to classroom teachers, school leadership, and staff, ensuring effective adjustments, targeted interventions, and positive outcomes for students with disability.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Special Education and/or Early Childhood Development Programs, including advice, support, and case management for students requiring extensive and substantial adjustments.
- Coordinate intensive, targeted teaching for students requiring intervention and ensure staff can access external specialist services, professional development, and resources/support.
- Contribute to school decision-making, planning, and professional learning to support whole-school priorities.
- Implement and maintain school-wide systems, including data collection to monitor and record (NCCD) Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability .
- Build and maintain partnerships with parents, government agencies, and community groups to support students with disability.
- Manage human, financial, facilities, and curriculum resources effectively.
