About the role

  • An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic experienced Scientist to join our laboratory on a permanent full-time or part-time (minimum 22.5 hours per week) basis.
  • The role will include Microbiology plate reading, blood film morphology, transfusion and biochemistry.
  • The position will require you to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.
  • Rostered hours will vary to cover the operational hours of a 24-hour laboratory. Mandatory weekend roster currently one in four.

Ideal candidate

We are proud to say we have a learning and supportive environment, and full training will be provided. We are looking for the following:

  • Appropriate essential qualifications – Degree in Medical Science or recognised equivalent, and 1–2 years' experience in microbiology plate reading
  • Haematology/blood bank experience would be highly desirable, but not essential
  • Eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists
  • Experience in a diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team environment without direct supervision
  • An understanding of quality control techniques
  • Proficiency, motivation and a high degree of organisation, with great attention to detail
  • General computer skills would also be an advantage
