The First Nations Cancer & Wellbeing Research (FNCWR) program is offering an exciting opportunity for a passionate and community-minded individual to join our team as a Community Engagement Officer.

This role will see you working on innovative, community-driven projects that empower First Nations peoples and communities affected by cancer. You'll help shape meaningful engagement strategies, foster strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensure research is translated into action where it matters most.

Our Commitment

About You

Genuine Occupational Requirement: The University of Queensland considers that to perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander women. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).

The position is therefore only open to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women.

The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

You will also have:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations (e.g. yarning circles).
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, preferably in health care delivery or health research services.
  • Well-developed writing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible messages.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
