Position: Sales and Business Development Lead - Australia
Location: Melbourne, VIC
(Hybrid Remote/Office with operational requirements)
We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Sales and Business Development Lead to establish and drive FTN Motion's sales and strategic growth initiative in Australia. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious individual to take ownership of a critical market, drive growth, and shape the future of electric mobility down under. You will be the face of FTN Motion's commercial efforts in Australia, responsible for all facets of our direct-to-customer model, business development, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Sales Leadership:
Proactively manage the sales pipeline, from education and lead generation to closing deals.
Plan, execute, and manage test drive events and sales activations, converting interest into confirmed orders.
Conduct effective follow-up communication and maintain records within the CRM.
Negotiate pricing and terms, identify upsell opportunities, and issuing initial sales invoices.
Deliver outstanding sales and post-sales customer experiences, clearly communicating product benefits and the FTN Motion ethos.
Business Development & Brand Awareness
Support marketing initiatives by assisting with planning, creation, promotion and execution of campaigns.
Engage with PR/Media, foster brand collaborations, and leverage test ride events, tradeshows, and displays to enhance brand visibility.
Strategically identify, set up, and manage an affiliate sales network across Australian states, providing on-the-ground support.
Build positive, sustainable relationships with third-party retailers and partners (e.g. suitable e-bike or other retail spaces for display and test rides).
Customer Insights & Community Engagement
Provide regular reporting on sales performance metrics. Capture and analyse key customer insights, tracking satisfaction levels and conversion barriers.
Support marketing efforts to nurture community engagement through online platforms and specific on-the-ground activities.
Operational & Customer Support Oversight
Keep customers informed on delivery progress, providing clear guidelines on the delivery, registration and payment process.
Ensure customers are correctly onboarded and satisfied post-delivery.
Manage local operational logistics, including test ride bookings and bike shipment arrivals.
Actively explore and manage partnerships with national service partners to ensure robust after-sales support.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven Sales Acumen: Demonstrable track record of success in sales, ideally within automotive, powersports or high-value consumer goods. Direct-to-customer sales experience is valued.
Exceptional Relationship Builder: Strong client relationship management and networking skills are paramount. You excel at building trust and rapport with customers, partners and community.
Professional Drive and Autonomy: A self-starter with the ability to operate independently, take initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment. You're resourceful and proactive in problem-solving.
Operational & Logistical Aptitude: Capable of managing operational aspects, coordinating logistics for bike shipments, and ensuring smooth customer service touchpoints.
Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and drive initiatives to completion effectively and efficiently.
Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets, optimising resource allocation, and ensuring financial targets are met.
Customer-Centric Mindset: A deep understanding of the importance of robust customer support and after-sales service in building long-term loyalty.
Digital Fluency: Comfortable updating CRM systems and leveraging digital tools for sales and marketing.
Flexible and Adaptable: Willingness to test new approaches for market entry, location scouting for test rides, and operational strategies.
Passion for the product: Genuine enthusiasm for motorcycles and electric vehicles.
Essentials
:
Must hold a valid Car Licence.
Must hold a valid Motorcycle Licence.
Availability: Must be available one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) most or all weeks; a standard work schedule such as Tuesday - Saturday is ideal.
Travel: Willingness to travel within Australia, including multi-day trips for events, partnerships or regional sales and travel as needed to New Zealand for on-boarding and any additional training.
