Primary objective
Support the development and delivery of career development programs across the full career pathway from career entry
through to leadership in the NT Department of Education and Training.
Context statement
The Career Development team leads strategic development and implementation of initiatives designed to retain a high-
quality education workforce where all employees are set up for success in their new roles and supported to grow as experts
in their chosen fields.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Design, manage and contribute to the evaluation of career pathway projects, programs and initiatives.
2. Contribute to a culture of evidence-based decision making to support career pathway initiatives.
3. Establish, maintain and support the development of effective collaborative partnerships and networks with key
stakeholders at all levels to ensure efficient and effective engagement on program related matters.
4. Research, analyse and report on current and emerging workforce development issues including early career programs
that impact on Northern Territory contexts.
5. Prepare and provide strategic and practical evidence-informed advice on submissions, briefings, reports and
correspondence for department executives and the Minister.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Understanding of current best practice in the development of programs to support career development.
2. Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to work independently, respond flexibility to changing priorities
and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
3. Demonstrated ability to innovate and deliver successful outcomes using solutions-based approaches.
4. Demonstrated ability to plan and manage programs including procurement and maintenance of governance and
reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to apply strategic, conceptual and analytical skills in the co-design and delivery of programs,
projects and events.
6. Highly developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor key messages for different purposes
and audiences.
7. Demonstrated ability to build, maintain and support effective networks and collaborative partnerships with a range of
internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Desirable
1. Understanding of the Northern Territory education context.
2. Relevant qualification in human resources or project management.
3. Understanding of cross-cultural issues and sensitivities in both urban and remote contexts.
