About the role
Ambulance Victoria is currently seeking a suitably experienced senior leader in the position of Director Finance.
Acting as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director, Enterprise Services and executive leadership team, this position will provide a high level of strategic leadership and direction to support the long-term financial sustainability of AV.
With a demonstrated ability to effectively lead the development of financial and strategic plans and frameworks, and commercial strategies to facilitate the achievement of AV's Strategic Enterprise objectives, this position will be critical to:
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve financial performance within the context of AV's strategic direction and overall budget parameters.
- Development and management of capital and operating budgets, optimising resources and ensuring financial sustainability through a business partnering approach.
- Ensuring all financial and accounting activities are carried out in accordance with government, legal and financial policy requirements.
- Provision of expert advice and solutions to the Executive and Board on financial issues and impacts to facilitate decision making.
- Providing open and effective leadership to build a high performance, collaborative culture the fosters continuous improvement and development.
- Leading and contributing to a safe, lawful, and respectful workplace culture through the modelling of ethical behaviours consistent with AV values.
About you
Suited to a highly motivated and strategic senior leader, the successful applicant will possess:
- Tertiary qualification with extensive relevant experience.
- Current Membership of a professional accounting body (CPA or Chartered Accountant) is desirable.
- Significant demonstrated senior experience in financial management and sustainability in a public sector organisation and previous success in implementing robust budget and financial processes, policies, frameworks and solutions.
- Extensive experience providing strategic advice to Executive, Board, Ministers and Central Agencies on budgetary and financial issues.
- Experience in driving and implementing strategic cultural, organisational, and transformational change and a commitment to build a responsive, future focused and contemporary culture at a senior level.
- A coaching, mentoring and leadership approach to motivate, encourage, and support teams.
