Senior Civil Design Engineer

Role description:

Due to consistent growth in our team and a steadily improving pipeline of work in our core business of civil highways engineering, we are seeking expressions of interest for future opportunities with Arcadis for a Civil Engineer with 5-12 years of experience to join our Perth-based team to work on road and highway projects. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise and design management skills to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure designs, planning, and execution meet Main Roads WA standards and project objectives.

Role accountabilities:

Design and Engineering Solutions:

• Develop and review road and highway designs, including geometric alignment, pavement, drainage, and earthworks, using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or 12D.
• Ensure compliance with Main Roads WA standards, guidelines, and specifications in all aspects of design and project execution.

Project Delivery:

• Collaborate with project managers, structural engineers, and other team members to deliver integrated solutions for major highway projects.
• Assist in the preparation of project plans, technical specifications, and tender documentation.

Technical Analysis:

• Perform detailed engineering calculations and analysis for roadworks, intersections, and other civil infrastructure elements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and provide innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Liaise with Main Roads WA, local authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and approvals are obtained.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

• Conduct reviews of designs and documentation to ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives.
• Uphold strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations during project delivery.

Sustainability and Innovation:

• Incorporate sustainable engineering practices into designs to minimize environmental impact and optimize resource efficiency.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5-12 years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on road and highway projects.
• Proven experience working on projects with Main Roads WA or similar transport authorities.
• Proficiency in road design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or 12D.
• Strong knowledge of MRWA standards, guidelines, and engineering practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
