WA Football (WAF) is the peak Australian Rules Football body in Western Australia and plays a key leadership, governance and funding role to football throughout the State, whilst also driving the overall development and growth of the sport.

About the role:
The role will look to implement individualised programs and initiatives in the areas of wellbeing, personal development and off-field career pathway planning for players involved in the WA Football performance pathways and development programs. The role exists to support players with their non-athletic endeavours and to provide support in managing the competing demands of football alongside various other pursuits including academia, culture, employment and personal development.
Key role responsibilities:
- Maintain strong working relationships with players to ascertain individual wellbeing development and support requirements
- Liaise with, and maintain strong working relationships with player's relevant personal networks (parents, family, school, WAFL Club)
- Providing support at camps across wellbeing, coordination, and design and implementation of wellbeing education modules)
- Standardising Wellbeing Mentor roles across WAFL clubs by working with WAFL Wellbeing Staff and assisting with their professional development
- Support players transitioning into and out of the State programs
To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate the following criteria:
Essential criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant professional experience in athlete wellbeing
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative and contemporary wellbeing strategies and initiatives
- Educational facilitation experience with groups of young athletes
- Scope to travel with teams
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours
- WA Working With Children check
- Driver's Licence
- National Police Clearance
Desirable criteria:
- A Tertiary degree or qualifications in counselling or psychology
- In-depth understanding of the sport and non-sport requirements of elite athletes
