Your new role:
As a vital member of the Deafness and Mental Health Statewide Consultation Liaison Service, you will provide linguistic and cultural expertise to enhance service delivery and support mental health initiatives.
- Deliver cultural awareness training and education to mental health services, sharing insights from lived Deaf culture experiences.
- Lead and support projects focused on culturally and linguistically diverse and disability improvement initiatives within the Deafness and Mental Health Service.
- Develop and implement project action plans to promote cultural education, discrimination awareness, and inclusive service delivery in collaboration with Queensland Health clinical and non-clinical teams.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by a candidate indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criteria will not be considered.
About you:
You are passionate about fostering equity and inclusion within mental health services for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
- Proven experience in delivering cultural awareness training and education, ideally within health or community services.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture, mental health, and the unique challenges faced by Deaf and hard of hearing consumers.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, develop policies, and contribute to strategic initiatives in a multidisciplinary environment.
