Join us as the Community Awareness Manager, where you'll lead life-saving education initiatives that empower Queensland communities to stay safe around water

In this role, you'll manage and grow SLSQ's community awareness programs throughout Queensland — helping to educate, inform, and inspire safer behaviours around water. Supported by regional Community Awareness Coordinators, you'll oversee the delivery of quality education programs to schools, community groups, and multicultural organisations.

You'll be responsible for developing annual plans, ensuring program quality and safety, managing staff across multiple regions, and strengthening relationships with key community partners. This role is based in our Brisbane office.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and maintain an annual calendar of community awareness programs across Queensland.
  • Manage risk assessments and maintain quality standards for all programs.
  • Build and sustain relationships with schools, community, and multicultural groups.
  • Lead the creation of engaging educational resources on water safety and drowning prevention.
  • Research, apply for, and manage grant funding opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and records for all programs.
  • Support, mentor, and manage Community Awareness Coordinators across regions.

About You:

Essential

  • Working with Children Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
  • Current Lifesaving membership and Proficient Bronze Medallion (or ability to obtain).
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Experience working with children and presenting to large groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of public safety education and community awareness programs.
  • Leadership experience managing staff across multiple locations.
  • Statewide travel and flexibility to work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of SLSQ and Community Awareness programs.
  • Applied First Aid Certificate.
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE).
