Yo-Sho Japanese Eatery is a cozy Japanese cafe in Port Mellbourne, serving freshly made sushi, hand rolls and hot meals. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality Japanese-inspired food and a welcoming experience for our customers.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Hand to join our friendly team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist chefs with hot food preparation (Hot food preparation for chef, before lunch time and dinner time starts).

  2. Chopping, peeling, cooking vegetables.

  3. Marinating meat for hot food.

  4. Prepare sauces for hot food.

  5. Keep kitchen and work areas clean, hygienic, and organized.

  6. Operate kitchen equipment safely (rice cookers, fryers, dishwashers, rice machine etc)

  7. Wash dishes, utensils, ad cooking equipment promptly.

  8. Unpack and store deliveries, rotate stock, and monitor food supplies.

  9. Follow food safety and hygiene standards.

  10. Assist with waste management and cleaning schedules.

  11. Work collaboratively with chefs, front-of-house, and cafe staff to ensure smooth service.

Requirements:

  1. Previous kitchen hand experience preferred but most importantly willing to learn attitude.

  2. Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  3. Knowledge of food hygiene and safe work practices.

  4. Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.

  5. Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and evenings.

  6. Food Handling Certificate (desirable but not essential)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
