Packaging Plant Operator / Forklift Operator

2 Roles Available

Independent Cement and Lime is an industry leading supplier of raw material and cement-blended products which have been supplying a wide range of industries across Victoria and NSW since 1987.

We are seeking and experienced Packing Plant Operator who is also a competent and fully licenced Forklift Driverto join our busy operations team based in Yarraville.

There are 2 roles available one is a night shift position working Sunday night to Thursday night with the renumeration attracting a 30% night shift loading, the other is a day shift position.

The Role

This role is a mix of Packaging plant operation and Forklift operating.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to;

  • Operating the automated drying, batching and mixing plant to ensure material is available and in specification for the packing line,
  • Operating the automated packing and palletising equipment to produce in specification drymix concrete products in 20kg bag format,
  • Monitor supply of material stock such as bags, film, pallets and confirm deliveries of all materials,
  • Fault find issues relating to automated packing equipment
  • Adjustment of parameter and setting on the packing equipment to ensure smooth operation
  • Sampling and testing of raw materials and finished drymix concrete products,
  • Pre-start checks on mobile equipment prior to use each day,
  • Loading and unloading trucks with bagged cement and drymix concrete products,
  • Ensuring loads are safe and stable for local and interstate transport,
  • Liaising with drivers and production personnel to ensure products are dispatched and delivered on time,
  • Ensuring paperwork for dispatch to customers is accurate and correct,
  • Assist with stocktaking and cycle counting,
  • Undertake site housekeeping tasks on a regular basis,
  • Overtime is available as required.

Skills & Experience Essentials

  • Strong values to do things safely and maintain the safety of those around you,
  • Hold a forklift licence,
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment,
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to environment, quality, and wellbeing,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work as part of a team,
  • Excellent fault find and problem solving skill
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Worked in a FMCG environment
  • Be organised with an ability to self-manage, display a can-do attitude and work effectively in a busy manufacturing environment,
  • Competent with computers.
