Founded in 1971, URM has come a long way since its humble beginnings as a single garbage collection vehicle. We have built a solid foundation, and our superior performance has helped us become one of Australia's largest privately owned resource recovery and recycling companies. We are proud to be recognised as an industry leader, earning a reputation for our unrivalled drive to achieve excellence in the services we offer.
Currently, we employ over 350 dedicated team members and operate a collection fleet of over 350 vehicles, in addition to operating multiple processing facilities and assisting numerous partners in implementing sustainable environmental solutions.
The opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity for multiple HR drivers to join our team across our Auburn & Banksmeadow depots on a full-time basis. In this role, you will play a key part in the collection of waste and recycling materials across our Auburn and Banksmeadow contracts.
We have two depots located at:
- Brookvale
- Cromer
In this role, you will be working with top-of-the-range and cutting-edge technology to ensure efficiency while maintaining the highest level of safety.
As our newest driver, you will be responsible for operating one of our top-of-the-range and cutting-edge waste trucks, collecting and transporting waste from residential and commercial properties to designated disposal facilities. You'll work with a team of dedicated professionals to ensure that our waste removal services are carried out efficiently while ensuring the highest level of safety.
Responsibilities include:
- Safely operate collection vehicles such as rear loaders, side loaders, and front-end loaders
- Perform safe loading and unloading of bins into collection vehicles
- Perform daily prestart training and post-trip inspections of the collection vehicles, including post-vehicle checks
We provide complete on-the-job training, including onboard systems and compliance, fatigue management, and chain of responsibilities. Our people's success is one of our priorities, and we provide all the support and training you need to be a high performer and thrive in the role.
You'll be great in this role because:
To thrive in this role, you will need to have an HR licence and previous experience in truck driving. Ideally, you will have previous experience in the waste industry, but if not, we will provide you with all the required training to operate and efficiently drive a waste truck in line with safety requirements. Safety is of utmost importance to us, and we are seeking someone who can follow instructions and ensure our safety protocols and procedures are adhered to.
We are looking for individuals who are calm, resilient, possess strong time management skills, and have a high degree of concentration and attention to detail. Additionally, you should have a professional approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Please note that drug and alcohol screening is mandatory for compliance and safety requirements. Therefore, you must be comfortable completing these checks as part of your pre-employment checks and ongoing employment with URM Group.
What you will receive from URM Environmental Services:
This role comes with an attractive rate circa $32 - $35 per hour + super and ongoing opportunities for overtime hours to increase your take-home pay. High-performing team members have the potential to be part of a bonus scheme.
