Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Preparation of Accounts

  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports.
  • Produce statutory accounts for the Group and subsidiaries in accordance with IFRS/AASB.
  • Provide relevant and timely financial information to the Board to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage the annual audit process with external auditors.

2. Budgets, Forecasts and Financial Analysis

  • Lead preparation of budgets, forecasts, and business plans (business plans developed by the ELT).
  • Monitor performance against budgets, reporting variances with clear commentary.
  • Support scenario modelling for business case preparation and investment decisions (e.g., new product launches, SaaS offerings, international expansion).
  • Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts.

3. Financial Management & Controls

  • Manage working capital effectively, with close oversight of receivables, payables, and cash balances.
  • Proactively manage overheads and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Oversee fortnightly payroll preparation and supplier payments.
  • Maintain and enhance the Group's internal control environment, including preparing a comprehensive Controls and Procedures Manual.
  • Embed a risk management culture across the organisation, supporting management in identifying and mitigating risks.

4. Compliance & Taxation

  • Oversee BAS, IAS, VAT, Payroll Tax, Workers' Compensation, FBT, and R&D Grant lodgements.
  • Ensure compliance with global tax obligations, including transfer pricing and multi-jurisdictional reporting.
  • Liaise with external advisers (auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers) to ensure timely and compliant outcomes.

5. Human Resources

  • Provide advice and support to supervisors on HR matters, including contracts and job descriptions.
  • Oversee new employee orientation and ensure HR policies and procedures are maintained.
  • Support alignment of HR costs with budgets, including remuneration and benefits compliance.

6. Systems and Technology

  • Lead the implementation and optimisation of upgraded financial and ERP systems, if required.
  • Partner with IT to ensure integration with e-commerce, licensing, and subscription platforms.
  • Provide training and reporting tools to empower decision-making across the business.
  • Identify and implement workflow improvements to drive efficiency.

7. Staff Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop finance team members across multiple geographies.
  • Supervise and review finance staff performance, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a change management culture, driving process efficiencies and automation.
  • Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to ensure finance supports the wider business effectively.

8. General

  • Keep the COO and Board informed of progress against financial and operational milestones.
  • Monitor industry developments to ensure the finance function reflects best practice.
  • Undertake special projects or additional tasks aligned with qualifications and experience as directed by the COO and Board.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, with CPA/CA qualification.
  • 7–10 years' post-qualification experience in senior finance roles, ideally within the software/SaaS or technology sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS/AASB, software revenue recognition, subscription models, and royalty accounting.
  • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
  • Hands-on ERP and reporting systems experience (e.g., Sage X3, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Proven leadership experience managing multi-site and international teams.
