Role OverviewWith direct succession planned to the Group CFO, this Group Financial Controller will provide strategic financial decision support to the ELT and all business unit stakeholders. You will drive process improvement initiatives and steer a best-in-class finance team. You will bring commerciality to the operations of the business and will be a key contact for all finance related issues. This Group Financial Controller will be responsible for creating innovative initiatives relating to process improvement and cost optimisation, whilst supporting in identifying growth opportunities for further expansion.

In addition, your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing the small but effective finance team as well as navigating any finance optimisation projects. This position requires an analytical mind that can also influence people across all levels of business. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage month-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Prepare consolidated month-end reporting, management accounts, and board packs with accuracy
  • Support budgeting and forecasting across the group, partnering with cost centres and divisions
  • Monitor performance, analyse variance,s and provide insights to management
  • Manage group cashflow, ensuring positive balances and effective forecasting
  • Oversee treasury function, improving processes and strengthening controls
  • Prepare and submit all external reporting requirements, including GST, FBT, ABS, and taxation
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings in collaboration with internal teams and external advisors
  • Lead tax planning while maintaining compliance with regulations
  • Manage the annual audit process, acting as the primary contact for external auditors
  • Coordinate internal teams to deliver audit requirements on time
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS and regulations
  • Act as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, banks, and regulators
  • Provide financial insights and support on strategic initiatives and ad-hoc projects
  • Mentor, coach and develop the finance team members
  • Lead finance process improvement projects

Candidate ProfileYou are a CA or CPA qualified finance leader with strong experience as a Financial Controller, ideally in FMCG, Retail or Consumer Goods. You have extensive and broad controllership experience and can not only lead a team to deliver results but also enjoy being hands on in making a difference. Stakeholder engagement is a key strength, and you are comfortable partnering with all business stakeholders. You enjoy change and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
