The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Economic Development super star to join Mid-Western Regional Councils progressive and innovative Economic Development Team.

As the Mid-Western Region continues to grow and prosper, Council is seeking a temporary full-time (1 year duration) Economic Development Coordinator to drive the development and implementation of the Regional Economic Development Strategy, including supporting investment attraction and ensuring critical issues such as workforce, housing and social infrastructure are addressed whilst the local region grows.

This role will focus on developing strategic partnerships with government and industry to capitalise on the opportunities of the renewable energy sector in the region and surrounds. You will manage multiple relationships with renewable energy proponents to ensure the best outcomes for the local community and economy. Your investment attraction experience will see you provide recommendations and support for the development of new industries in the region and support for those to expand.

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Economics or other relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering projects that promote economic development and/or business investment
  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategies, policies and business plans
  • A minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and liaise with community representatives, levels of government and the private sector, including the capacity to identify, establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical and investigative skills, including the ability to research and prepare statistical reports
  • Well-developed computer skills, in particular a high level of competency in MS Office
  • Proven ability to manage own varied workload balancing competing tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities and a commitment to attending relevant WHS training
  • Class C drivers licence
