About the Role

We are seeking a
Senior Safety Officer
to join our team in a full-time, permanent position, bringing your passion, leadership, and experience to our growing business. Working closely with our dedicated project teams, you will play a key role in driving safe work practices, supporting our people onsite, and maintaining a proactive, solutions-focused safety culture.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to some of South Australia's most exciting and high-profile projects across Health, Defence, Education, Retail, Commercial, and more, giving you exposure to diverse environments and genuine scope to grow your capability. You will be empowered to take the lead, influence positive behaviours, and make a meaningful impact on our people, our sites, and the overall success of our projects.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Manage compliance with WHS requirements on site, including active use of systems including HammerTech.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of risk to health, safety, and the environment.
  • Provide advice and guidance on WHS and Environmental related matters to project staff and workers.
  • Provide a mentoring/coaching approach in relation to compliance with WHS requirements.
  • Actively participate as a mentor in the Trainee Safety Officer program.
  • Attend and actively participate in various WHS and Environmental related forums.
  • Lead incident investigations on site, including but not limited to emergency response, injury management, completion of incident reports, and prompt close out of corrective actions.
  • Build strong relationships within the business to improve WHS and Environmental culture and compliance.

About You

You will have a passion for safety, strong leadership skills and previous experience within the commercial construction industry. You will be a motivated team player with the following knowledge and experience:

  • Advanced understanding of WHS in construction (theoretical and practical)
  • Certificate IV in WHS (or willingness to complete during employment)
  • Proven experience in autonomously managing QHSE on construction sites
  • Proven experience in managing complex high-risk construction works
  • Proven experience in mentoring Safety Officers and/or Trainee Safety Officers
  • Proven experience in managing a team of Safety Officers and/or labourers
  • Proficiency in the use of IT applications and programs
  • Current SA Driver's Licence
