Ultimate Marine Power is a specialist supplier of advanced marine technology solutions to the Australian recreational, commercial, and defence markets. With a focus on vessel performance, safety, and comfort, we represent world-leading brands in trim and stabilization systems, waterjet propulsion, and marine electronics. Our customers include private yacht owners, professional boat builders, commercial fleet operators, and government/defence agencies.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Representative to join our team. This role will draw on your technical knowledge of marine systems and proven sales ability to deliver tailored solutions to clients across Australia.

Job Description:

The role of Technical Sales Representative is focused on developing sales through knowledge of marine trim and stabilization systems and demonstrating their performance benefits to customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and qualifying new business opportunities across recreational, commercial, and defence vessel markets.
  • Visiting regular and prospective client businesses, including boat builders, shipyards, naval architects, fleet operators, and government agencies.
  • Conducting detailed needs analysis to recommend suitable trim and stabilization systems such as interceptors, trim tabs, and gyro stabilizers.
  • Presenting and demonstrating products to clients, highlighting improvements in vessel comfort, safety, fuel efficiency, and performance.
  • Preparing tailored technical proposals, quotations, and tender submissions.
  • Negotiating pricing, contracts, and terms of sale with both B2B and B2G customers.
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships, including after-sales technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Attending trade shows and industry events to promote products and expand networks.
  • Reporting on competitor activity, market conditions, and emerging technologies.

Typical Customers and Markets:

· Recreational market – private yacht and sport boat owners, luxury yacht builders.

· Commercial market – ferry operators, offshore service providers, pilotage authorities, workboat and tug operators.

· Government & defence – navy procurement teams, border force, and patrol boat operators.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications and at least two years' relevant work experience.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of marine systems and vessel performance.
  • Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in the marine or defence industry.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience dealing with complex, consultative sales cycles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.
  • Marine industry background highly desirable.
