About the role
We are entering an exciting period of change within the Facilities, Fleet & Depot Stores department, as we continue to develop to meet the strategic and operational needs of our growing municipality. This transformation is about people, purpose, and progress, and we are recruiting a diverse range of roles to the department—building a team that is passionate about service excellence, operational uplift, and meaningful change.
We're looking for individuals who are not only skilled in their field, but who thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated by the opportunity to make a real and positive impact.
As a member of the Facilities Maintenance Services Unit within the City Operations Directorate, this role plays a key part in ensuring Wyndham City's built assets are safe, functional and well-maintained.
The Team Leader Reactive Maintenance is responsible for leading a team of four geographically assigned officers in the delivery of reactive maintenance services across Council-owned, operated and tenanted facilities. You'll coordinate a broad range of urgent and reactive maintenance requests — triaging, prioritising, and overseeing completion in line with service levels and statutory obligations.
Working closely with the Area Leader and peers across supporting services, you will ensure high-quality service delivery that balances responsiveness, compliance, efficiency, and community impact.

What your day will look like
- Leading and supporting a team conducting minor maintenance activities, and managing on-site reactive maintenance
- Triage, prioritisation and assignment of maintenance tasks
- Engaging with internal staff and facility users, and external contractors to scope, schedule and monitor works
- Conducting in-field audits and ensuring quality, compliance to regulatory statutory requirements, and safety standards
- Collaborating with peers creating financial efficiencies and continually uplifting performance data tracking
- Communicating with facility users and stakeholders to minimise disruptions and resolve escalations
- Ensuring maintenance records and documentation are complete and audit-ready
What you will bring
- Certificate-level qualification in building services, facility management, or a relevant trade/technical field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience undertaking and coordinating field-based maintenance services and supervising contractors or staff
- Sound understanding of building systems, statutory and regulatory compliance requirements, WHS obligations and maintenance standards and practices
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience managing operational challenges and service delays professionally
- Proficiency in Technology One or similar work order systems
A current Victorian Driver's Licence, Construction Induction (White) Card, and Working with Children Check (required)
If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
