Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Block Full time $104,000 - $170,000 per year

Join a movement in which everyone can win. We started a movement in which everyone can win – shoppers, retailers, society and every person on our team. To play fair, trust people and reward them for doing the right thing. We see and feel the impact of our work as more and more people gain financial freedom and retailers grow across the globe.

Founded in 2014, in Sydney, Australia, Afterpay has over 11 million active customers globally and more than 64,000 of the world's best retailers around the world including Anthropologie, Revolve, DSW, GOAT, Finish Line, Levi's, Mac Cosmetics, Ray-Ban and many others. Afterpay is on a mission to power an economy in which everyone wins.

Afterpay is completely free for customers who pay on time – helping people spend responsibly without incurring interest, fees or extended debt. Afterpay empowers customers to access the things they want and need, while still allowing them to maintain financial wellness and control, by splitting payments in four, for both online and in-store purchases. Afterpay is deeply committed to delivering positive outcomes for customers. We are focused on supporting our community of shoppers.

We trust in the next generation and share a vision of a more accessible and sustainable world in which people are rewarded for doing the right thing.

The Role

The primary objectives of this role are to shape and amplify Afterpay's industry positioning, and to create engagement opportunities with current and prospective merchants. You will play a critical role within the mix of our B2B marketing strategy to support B2B messaging across the funnel and enable us to share our brand story with current and prospective merchant partners. To do so, you will leverage multiple marketing and comms channels to drive engagement, flexing your muscle in areas such as strategic partnerships, content, sponsorships and events to reach our objectives.

This role is an amazing opportunity for an exceptionally organised industry partnerships and engagement professional who has significant experience planning and delivering programs of work in a fast-paced and forever changing environment.

  • Execute integrated sponsorship activations and brand partnerships, including in support of key marketing moments (eg. Afterpay Day) as well as brand partnerships (eg. Australian Open)
  • Plan, manage and deliver an integrated and exceptional events program (conferences, trade shows, merchant events) that supports our brand's leadership position, engagement with merchant partners and accelerates pipeline development for sales
  • Own Afterpay's C-level and merchant engagement programs, including corporate hospitality and VIP events, ensuring opportunities for sales and executive leadership to engage with key merchants and prospects
  • Lead speaker program to identify and secure keynote and other speaking opportunities on behalf of the brand. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of best in class content including keynotes and presentation narratives
  • Manage relationship with external agencies, suppliers, and partners for production of content, research, GTM programs and events
  • Implement criteria and key metrics to assess the effectiveness of industry engagement programs, report to the business on performance, and make optimisation decisions
  • Manage the industry engagement budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources to maximise impact
  • Own Afterpay's thought leadership program to shape and amplify the company's industry positioning, including commissioning of research reports, content and development of go-to-market initiatives across owned channels, sales enablement, partnerships, events and comms to drive industry engagement
  • Development and execution of content programs (video, editorial, insights) to support industry messaging, positioning and campaign executions

You Have

  • 8+ years experience and demonstrated success in partnerships, events and marketing
  • Experience with ownership, management and successful execution of strategic partnerships, including partner management, negotiation and execution
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering exceptional event and in-person experiences at different levels of scale
  • Experience creating content programs that deliver on strategic organisational objectives and support communications programs
  • An understanding of strategic communications principles
  • Ability to create new ideas, think creatively and react quickly
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work independently, pro-actively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
