News Journalist
to join our Sydney-based editorial team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled writer with a passion for storytelling, travel, and breaking news to contribute to our fast-paced publications.
As a journalist with
Travel Daily
, you'll research and write compelling travel industry news stories, conduct interviews, and attend key industry events. You'll play an active role in producing our daily newsletter and contribute to sister titles
Cruise Weekly
and
Pharmacy Daily
.
Key Responsibilities
· Research, write, and sub-edit accurate and engaging B2B travel news stories
· Conduct interviews with industry professionals and stakeholders
· Pitch and develop story ideas
· Meet tight daily deadlines and contribute to Travel Daily's newsletter
· Build and maintain strong industry contacts and travel sector knowledge
· Attend industry events, conferences, and famils (including out-of-hours commitments)
· Stay informed about travel industry trends, policy changes and emerging market developments
· Assist in newsletter production including formatting and deployment
· Collaborate with the editorial team and support sister titles

About You
You are proactive, curious, and detail-oriented storyteller with a strong interest in the travel industry and a passion for journalism. You thrive under deadlines and enjoy building relationships within the industry. This role is ideal for a junior or early-career journalist with around one year of experience who's eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced editorial team.
Essential Skills & Attributes:
· Write with crisp, engaging copy
· Strong editing with an eye for detail
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
· Ability to manage multiple stories and deadlines with short turn-around times
· Confidence in conducting interviews, engaging sources by phone and attending media events
· Exhibit a genuine passion for news
· A team player with initiative and curiosity
Desirable Experience:
· Junior level role with around one years' experience in journalism, travel writing or media
· Understanding of B2B publishing and digital news production
· Knowledge of the Australian travel industry a bonus
