We are looking for a journalist with a passion for breaking news to join our reporting team in Sydney. Suitable candidates will produce clean, fast copy, have a finely honed nose for a story and have demonstrated experience in a major newsroom. Digital experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce fast, clean, vibrant copy about breaking news events to very tight deadlines on a consistent basis, written to Daily Mail Australia style
  • Spot breaking news stories of interest to Daily Mail Australia's vast readership by working self-sufficiently
  • Chase leads on breaking news events across Australia and on occasion in the Asia-Pacific region.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • At least 1-2 years of news reporting experience
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • The ability to conduct thorough research, gather evidence and construct well-reasoned narratives that inform and engage our readers
  • A keen analytical mind coupled with a relentless curiosity
  • A strong understanding of legal issues related to journalism
  • Must be flexible regarding shift patterns (including weekends and nights)
