About the Role

The Media & Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the Club's day-to-day media, communications and editorial content activities. You'll be responsible for shaping the Club's public voice, fostering strong relationships with the media, and ensuring consistent, clear and positive communication across all platforms.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, this position will lead proactive media engagement, manage matchday media operations, and support key club personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary media contact for the Club, managing day-to-day media enquiries and opportunities.
  • Lead media operations including press conferences, interviews, and AFL/AFLW matchday duties.
  • Write, prepare and distribute media releases, alerts and statements.
  • Generate proactive media stories across football, community and commercial operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media across Victoria and interstate.
  • Collaborate with digital, video, design and marketing teams to deliver engaging Club content.
  • Support crisis communication, reputation management and issue response.
  • Be available for media enquiries outside traditional hours and travel as required.

About You

You are an experienced and proactive media professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. With a strong network in sports media and a flair for storytelling, you're able to manage competing demands calmly and deliver exceptional results.

You will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Media, Communications, Journalism or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in a media or communications role, ideally within elite sport.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships.
