About Us:
The CVE Policy Team is headed by the Senior Manager and sits within the CVE Unit. The CVE Policy Team supports the Minister for Police in their capacity as the lead minister for coordinating the Victorian Government's efforts to counter violent extremism. The CVE Policy Team has key relationships across the Department of Justice and Community Safety, the Department of Premier and Cabinet, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, the Department of Education, Victoria Police, CVE experts, and the Victorian community.
The CVE Policy Team is responsible for leading, coordinating and reporting on whole-of-government efforts to prevent violent extremism in Victoria through early intervention and prevention, and driving an evidence-informed, contemporary approach to CVE. The CVE Policy Team is responsible for delivering on key government priorities and reforms, including leading the establishment of policy frameworks and service delivery models to support people at risk of engaging in violent extremism and improve community safety.
About the Role:
The Senior Manager role provides an exciting opportunity to lead the CVE Policy Team, and help to improve the safety of Victorian communities by:
- Developing and presenting authoritative, evidence-based policy advice and options to support decision-making, drawing on consultation and expert advice.
- Coordinating reporting across government on the progress of CVE initiatives and programs (including reporting on the implementation of recommendations of the Expert Panel on Terrorism and Violent Extremism Prevention and Response Powers), and proactively identifying implementation risks and options for improvement.
- Working across relevant departments and agencies, including Victoria Police, to lead the development of policy frameworks, service delivery models, and support the implementation of significant legislative reforms.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience leading and managing high-performing teams.
- Knowledge of policing and justice portfolios.
- Highly developed analytical and policy development skills.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging, collaborating with and briefing senior stakeholders on complex policy matters.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex, whole-of-government reforms.
Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, for example in public policy or a justice-related discipline, are required.
- A law qualification is highly desirable.
- Qualifications or equivalent experience in project management are highly desirable.
