Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Civil Estimator based in Chipping Norton, NSW.
The estimator will be responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of the estimating and bidding process.

Qualifications & experience

  • Ability to interpret structural plans and construction drawings
  • Experience with estimation and tendering process (24m+)
  • Experience in Civil construction projects estimation for Local Governments
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Blue Beam, and Microsoft Office (including MS Project)
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Right to work in Australia

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Working closely with senior management to ensure that the estimate and bid align with company policies, processes, procedures, protocol, and budget
  • Developing thorough knowledge of construction pricing
  • Reading and interpreting project design drawings and specifications to determine cost-effective construction methods and scope of work
  • Utilizing Blue Beam and any other necessary software to mark up and measure job specific drawings
  • Performing quantity takeoffs from plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Attending project meetings and workshops with clients and suppliers
  • Conducting pre-tendering job site inspection and investigation whenever necessary
  • Seeking quotations and sending out enquiries to the Supply Chain
  • Overseeing the procurement and evaluating proposals from the supply chain including scope of supply, technical compliance and pricing
  • Generating quotes and compiling tender documents for submission (including methodology, inclusions and exclusions, capability statement, etc.)
  • Preparing project specific schedules, method statements, methodology, and compliance documents
  • Creating cost breakdowns for all materials, labour, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Collaborating with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and clients to evaluate risks, estimate timelines, and ensure projects stay within time and budget constraints set by clients
  • Liaising with project manager and clients/ Council Representatives, and communicating requirements, progress, changes, and outcomes.
  • Communicating with residents and addressing concerns where required
  • Overseeing and reporting on cost and progress
  • Preparing WAE at completion
  • Ensuring that Actual Cost data is captured from Project Team and fed back into system at Project Completion
  • Applying for accreditations, licences and new panels
  • Implementing continual improvement and increased efficiencies in our data and processes
