As a Family Domestic Violence Counsellor/ General Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality intake, screening, assessment, counselling, and support services to individuals and families seeking help. You will work within Centrecare's Therapeutic Framework, ensuring consistency in program design, delivery, and outcome measurement. Your responsibilities will include providing counselling and support to victims and perpetrators of domestic and family violence, conducting risk assessments and safety planning, and facilitating individual, couple, and family counselling sessions.
A few specifics
- Provide counselling and support to individuals, couples, and families affected by domestic and family violence.
- Utilise Centrecare's Therapeutic Framework to maintain consistency in program design and service delivery.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and risk management in line with best practice standards.
- Actively support clients to engage and participate in counselling sessions, workshops, and programs.
- Manage counselling caseload, conduct client assessments, and develop case plans based on clients' needs.
- Facilitate training seminars and parenting education programs in metropolitan and regional Western Australia.
- Maintain documentation, including case notes, screenings, assessments, and support plans.
Essential Requirements:
- Recognised tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Counselling, Childhood Development, or related disciplines.
- Experience working with children and families with complex needs (e.g., domestic violence, homelessness, abuse) and inclusive service design addressing social, emotional, mental, and physical needs.
- Experience in case management and coordination of client services.
- Knowledge and experience in intake, assessment, and case management.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge.
- Possession of a current Class 'C' driver's license and own vehicle.
- National Police Clearance.
- Working With Children Check or eligibility to apply.
Desirable Skills:
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to work one evening a week until 8 pm if required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in delivering and facilitating parenting education programs (e.g., Circle of Security, Bringing Up Great Kids).
