Family Support Worker

About the role:

This position is situated within MacKillop Family Services South West Emergency Care for Children (SWECC) Program. This program is responsible for providing in-home practical support and childcare services to families in crisis in locations across the South West of Western Australia.  

With an hourly Rate of $35.67 to $41.45 as outlined in the SCHADS Award Level 2-3, dependent on qualification and experience, the Family Support Worker provides home-based emergency care to children within the family and provides practical supports to families in crisis. 

The Family Support Worker is a member of the MacKillop Family Services South West team, and reports to the SWECC Team Leader.  

This is a Causal opportunity based in South West Region, WA within our South West Emergency Care for Children (SWECC) program. The position reports to the SWECC Team Leader.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
• Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable and at risk families and children to address practical issues within a home, including the emergency care of children.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone.

You must have a:

• Valid and current Driver's Licence;
• Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
• Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
