Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Griffith University Full time $79,705 - $89,416
Company Description

Every institution values excellence. What matters most is why.

Griffith was created to be a different type of university. You'll find we're about leading research, academic excellence, and the transformative power of education. But what sets us apart is why those things matter and how you'll achieve them.

Why? Griffith brings together exceptional minds like yours from across the globe and from all walks of life. Here, we do incredible work, questioning and challenging, always in the pursuit of excellence.

Job Description

The Event Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of a wide range of on campus events and activities. These events are designed to predominantly engage current Griffith students, however there are some opportunities for staff, prospective students, and members of the broader community to join in some of the events on offer. The Event Coordinator also oversees and supervises casual staff and volunteers to ensure the successful delivery of each event.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the Event Manager for the planning, coordination, and delivery of ~65 annual on-campus events, including activations, student gatherings, and market days.
  • Act as the primary contact during events, managing enquiries, student needs, and escalating issues as required.
  • Assist with event data, proposals, post-event reporting, and budget tracking.
  • Coordinate casual event staff across recruitment, scheduling, supervision, and performance.
  • Manage the Griffith Student Event Leaders (GSEL) Program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance.
  • Partner with the Event Manager and Griffith Sport Marketing team to create and deliver promotional materials across print, digital, and social media.
  • Support continuous improvement of event administration and operational processes.
  • Work with the Compliance Manager to ensure safety, risk, and compliance requirements are met, including risk assessments, documentation, and reporting.

About you

We are seeking a passionate and self-motivated individual with strong administrative focus and impeccable attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to juggle competing priorities effectively while maintaining a high level of organisation.

This role also involves hands-on participation in the physical aspects of event bump-in and bump-out, so enthusiasm for practical, on-the-ground work is essential. As a highly people-focused role, the ability to communicate positively and enthusiastically with a diverse range of individuals is imperative.

You thrive on working with diverse stakeholders—primarily students, as well both not-for-profit organisations and professional stakeholders—engaging with thousands of individuals on a daily basis.

What we can offer

This is a fixed-term, until 31 August 2026, position based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you will be required to work across other locations on a regular basis.

HEW level 5 salary range $79,705 - $89,416 per annum + 17% superannuation. Total annual remuneration package range $93,255 - $104,617.
