The Women's (Family) Safety Worker is responsible for providing safety and support services to meet the immediate needs of women whose partner/s and/or ex-partners are participants in the Darwin-based Men's Behaviour Change Program (facilitated by CatholicCare NT CCNT)
This position has a particular focus on providing case management, support, referral and information to the women affected by their partner's and/or ex-partner's violence and includes supporting children as victims in their own right through the (ex) partners.
CCNT's Men's Behaviour Change Program is committed to ensuring the safety of women and children. The program addresses and aims to change the behaviour of men who perpetrate violence against their partners.

Purpose of the position
To deliver high-quality and effective case management services that respond flexibly to the individual needs of women and children who has a partner or ex partner attending the men's behaviour change program. The goal is to support their safety and wellbeing within the home environment through comprehensive safety assessments, tailored case management, emotional and practical support, timely referrals, and access to accurate information.
Key Responsibilities
Outreach and support
• Accept referrals as allocated by the Men's Behaviour Change Program Team Leader.
• Apply evidence-based, trauma-informed practice principles for case management.
• Undertake risk assessments using the Northern Territory Government's Common Risk Assessment Tool (CRAT) and other organisational tools.
• Support ex(partners) to develop safety plans for themselves and their children.
Referral and advocacy to support participants
• Create links and referral pathways with the participant's informal supports, community services, government agencies and statutory bodies to develop a comprehensive network of support.
• Advocate for the rights and needs of (ex) partners and their children, ensuring they have access to appropriate services and resources.
• Attend and contribute to relevant networks, including sharing information about the program in public forums.
• Maintain professional relationships with all clients, stake holders, CCNT and Dawn House staff
Collective Risk Management
• Liaise and collaborate with MBCP Practitioners and Outreach Workers to monitor and regularly assess risk for (ex)partners and children
• Work closely with Women's (Family) Safety Workers from CCNT to ensure seamless support for (ex) partners and children
About you
The ideal candidate for this role will have a compassionate and resilient nature, combined with professional qualifications and experience. You will be:
- Compassionate and Empathetic: You support women from various socio-economic backgrounds, nationalities, and cultural settings with sensitivity and respect.
- Experienced and Knowledgeable: You have a relevant degree in human services (e.g., social work, social science) or equivalent experience in the community services sector, with a strong understanding of issues related to violence against women and children from a feminist perspective.
- Organised and Detail-oriented: You are capable of working within set procedures and policies while maintaining accurate and up-to-date data management systems.
- Skilled in Risk Assessment: You have experience in conducting risk assessments and managing conflicting priorities effectively.
