About the role

Seer Data is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Product & Engineering team. In this role, you'll work across the full software development lifecycle, building and maintaining high-quality applications and services. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior developers, and drive best practices in development and deployment.

Your Responsibilities

• Actively develop, maintain, and support our applications and services through the SDLC.
• Work within the Product & Engineering team to deliver robust, scalable software solutions.
• Support other internal teams with technical requests related to our products.
• Assist the Technical Lead in scoping activities and architecture discussions.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers, including pairing sessions.
• Ensure systems meet high standards of performance, security, and maintainability.
• Promote and enforce best practices in software development and deployment.

Your Qualifications

We're looking for a well-rounded engineer with strong problem-solving abilities and experience across multiple technologies, with a tertiary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years' experience in development or engineering positions is required for this role. In addition to this the following skillset is expected:

Technical Skills

• Frontend: Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and state management libraries (MobX preferred).
• Backend: with (or other web frameworks), RESTful API design
• Authentication: Experience with authentication mechanisms and best practices.
• Build Tools: Familiarity with Webpack and other modern build tools.
• Testing: Experience with unit testing frameworks.
• CSS Frameworks: Experience using and theming with frameworks like Semantic UI or Bootstrap.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience deploying and managing containerized applications with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Database: Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) and experience with query builder libraries preferred).
• Scalability & Performance: Consideration for performance optimization and scalability in system design.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to mentor junior developers and promote best practices.
• A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Python (or a willingness to learn).
• Experience with charting libraries (Recharts, D3, etc.).
• Familiarity with WebSockets.
• Understanding of ETL pipelines.
• Agile experience (Kanban or Scrum).
• Experience working within an Information Security Management System (ISMS).
• Experience contributing to technical specifications and scoping documents.
