Are you keen to use your skills to deliver key elements of the NSW Koala Strategy including the delivery of habitat restoration, translocations, and monitoring on park.

About the Role

National Parks and Wildlife Service manages over 7 million hectares of diverse ecosystems and plays a vital role in conserving the state's biodiversity. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Officer - Threatened Species to  lead the NPWS Threatened Species Koala Team of eight, to deliver 3 actions under the NSW Koala Strategy: monitoring, habitat restoration and translocation. Key responsibilities include stakeholder consultation, strategic support for the Unit Manager, budget management, program reporting, and supervisory backing of a diverse, high performing team.

About You

You are a team leader with demonstrated experience in ecology, and project management, who has an ability to work with people. You will have expertise in the management of threatened species, and in exploring and interrogating data to ensure robust outcomes. You will be able to interpret complex and often incomplete information, and be able to articulate your findings to a range of audiences.

Key Knowledge and experience;

  • Experience developing, implementing and monitoring strategic and operational plans for the delivery of complex programs, with a demonstrated track record of providing direction and achieving results through multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage the people and financial resources of a team to consistently deliver against agreed performance.

Knowledge of threatened ecological community assessment ecology and threat management is highly desirable.

Essential requirements

  • Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and willingness to obtain a 4WD operation certificate.
