The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Specialist to strengthen our compliance framework and provide expert advice on regulatory obligations. This role will support the organisation in adhering to legislative and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on APRA Prudential Standards, particularly CPS 230 – Operational Risk Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compliance advice to operational teams and senior leaders.
- Interpret and apply legislation and regulatory standards (APRA, ASIC, AML/CTF, Privacy, Life Insurance Act).
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess business impacts.
- Maintain and enhance the Compliance and Assurance Frameworks.
- Deliver training, workshops, and inductions to promote a culture of compliance.
- Prepare compliance reports and support responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Assist with AML/CTF obligations and breach investigations.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 5 years' experience in compliance, risk, or legal advisory within financial services.
- Proven experience in an APRA-regulated environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in law, commerce, business, or risk-related fields.
- Strong understanding of the Australian regulatory landscape.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Certification in AML/CTF or financial crime.
- Experience with GRC systems and compliance audits.
- Knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards, particularly CPS 220/230.
