Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
More about the team
The Atlassian Sustainability Team is open, always learning, and comes with varied backgrounds and experiences. While the core team is U.S.-West-Coast-based, we partner with Atlassian teams globally.
We are a "progress over perfection" team that take time each week to reflect together on wins, challenges, business intel, and emerging trends in the sustainability space. This allows us to advance our work as a team, coming up with solutions that progress environmental, social, and governance efforts together.
We believe that through our roles, we can help Atlassian achieve its long-term ambitions. To learn more about our external goals, check out our annual sustainability report (to open report, right click and open in a new tab).
ResponsibilitiesThis is a high-impact role at the intersection of sustainability, compliance, and governance, shaping how Atlassian meets evolving regulatory requirements.

Ensuring the Sustainability and broader Atlassian team is set up to deliver on requirements, including identifying programmatic investments to close gaps and build data controls
Owning the end-to-end process for sustainability compliance-related disclosures
Owning controls, documentation, and audit readiness for current voluntary sustainability report and emerging mandatory disclosures e.g. data collection, fact checking, approvals. etc
Coordinating third-party audit/assurance process for regulatory requirements
Driving projects that contribute to Atlassian's ability to meet regulatory requirements, e.g. selection and implementation of software or data management solutions
Sustainability governance and disclosures: Drive the Sustainability Team's governance pillar portfolio, including
Closing gaps for emerging governance requirements, programs, and disclosures (e.g. double materiality assessments, Board updates)
Directly owning and manage reporting frameworks (ie SASB, TCFD) for annual sustainability reporting and sustainability content for public filings (e.g. 10k)
Benchmarking reporting and disclosure practices, conduct gap analyses, and make recommendations for enhancements in metrics and disclosure
Cross-functional program management: Drive programs and projects end-to-end with stakeholders across Atlassian, including
Program management and coordination across highly collaborative and cross-functional portfolio of sustainability governance and compliance projects, as well as consultant projects
Translating and synthesizing outside legal advice, consultant deliverables, and other analysis into right-sized recommendations for Atlassian sustainability compliance, governance, and reporting programs, as well as other teams in scope for regulatory requirements (procurement, risk, etc.)
Ensuring Atlassian stakeholders understand recommendations and take appropriate steps to meet compliance requirements
Contributing to the Sustainability team and key stakeholders' understanding and tracking of emerging trends especially as it relates to shifts the regulatory environment, disclosures, and stakeholder expectations
On your first day, we'll expect you'll have:
A demonstrated track record of success in sustainability compliance, reporting, and governance roles
