The role
Are you passionate about sharing Aboriginal culture and history with diverse audiences? As an Aboriginal Education Guide, you'll deliver engaging cultural tours and curriculum-linked education programs to students from kindergarten through to tertiary level, as well as the general public. You'll help bring the stories of the area to life through an Aboriginal lens, creating memorable learning experiences across Sydney's iconic precincts.

This role is ideal for someone who communicates well with people of all ages and backgrounds, and who thrives in a dynamic, face-to-face environment. You'll be responsible for presenting programs, maintaining cultural protocols, supporting program administration, and contributing to continuous improvement in service delivery. Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in education and culture are key.

You must be available to work weekends and public holidays when required. A minimum 3-day availability per week is required. Weekend availability is requested.

What you will bring to the role

• Ability to engage and communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including students and the general public
• Awareness of Aboriginal cultural protocols and the ability to collaborate respectfully with Elders and community members
• Flexibility and adaptability to deliver programs across different locations and age groups
• Strong self-management skills and the ability to work independently within established frameworks
• Physical fitness to manage standing, bending, and active presentation styles
• Self-management and punctuality, with flexibility to adapt to changing needs of schools and groups
• Enthusiasm for Sydney's history and current events
• Basic computer skills including Teams and Microsoft suite

What is an essential requirement:

• A Working with Children Check is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring a check in keeping with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
• This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role.
