Position Summary:
The Muru (Path) Planner plays a vital role in guiding First Nations young people on their personal and cultural journeys. "Muru" means path in Darug language, representing the supportive and culturally grounded approach this role takes in helping young people navigate life's challenges.
This role supports participants in the Short-Term Remand Pilot, providing tailored case planning and coordination across key areas such as health, mental health, disability, alcohol and other drugs, housing, education, employment, family support, and domestic and family violence (DFV).
You will work closely with young people and their families and key stakeholders building strong, trusting relationships and using regular face-to-face engagement to identify needs, set meaningful goals, and develop clear, actionable plans. This role requires deep cultural insight and the ability to navigate complex support systems, ensuring young people and their families receive the holistic support they deserve.
About You:
This is an Identified Role, open only to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with young people and their families using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach
- Conduct holistic assessments and co-design culturally safe, individualised support plans
- Advocate for access to services and supports in health, mental health, housing, disability, education, employment, and AOD
- Deliver consistent, supportive case management that evolves with the client's needs
- Collaborate with community partners, government agencies, and service providers
- Provide crisis support when needed and maintain high standards of client care
- Accurately document all work and maintain client confidentiality
- Participate in ongoing training, cultural development, and team learning
