Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) – Contract | Darwin

We are seeking an experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead a critical cyber uplift program in a utilities and critical infrastructure environment.

Reporting to the General Manager Technology and Systems, you will own the cyber security strategy, drive resilience across IT and OT, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including the SOCI Act. This is a senior leadership role with direct influence at the executive level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and deliver the organisation's cyber security strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead risk and threat assessments across IT and OT environments.
  • Ensure alignment with business resilience, operational continuity, and digital transformation.
  • Evaluate and manage cyber security service providers.
  • Provide executive briefings, reports, and uplift recommendations.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop internal cyber teams.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Chief Information Security Officer, ideally within utilities or critical infrastructure organisations.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence at the board and senior leadership level.
  • Deep knowledge of cyber security frameworks, SOCI Act compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Proven delivery of IT/OT cyber initiatives, including SCADA and operational technology.
  • CISSP or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing critical infrastructure cyber initiatives.
  • Strong vendor management and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

  • Program and portfolio management experience.
  • Knowledge of cloud, SCADA, AI platforms, and digital security challenges.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
