The key duties of the Electorate Officer B position are, but are not limited to:

· Monitor local community events;

· Attend meetings and events with the Member of Parliament and follow up any issues;

· Assist constituents that contact the Member of Parliament;

· Support and work with the team on assisting community groups that contact the Member of Parliament;

· Maintain and draft material for the Member of Parliament's website;

· Write, Design and arrange for distribution of various materials for the Member of Parliament;

· Research electorate issues or portfolio related issues as directed by the Member of Parliament or the Advisers;

· Initiate community engagement strategies, including on specific local issues;

· Support the team in the office to complete tasks, events and visits for the Member of Parliament.

The ideal applicants for both roles should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:


•      Ability to engage and communicate with a broad range of people


•      Ability to work as part of a team


•      Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail


•      Well-developed IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets and database management


•      Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks in a fast-paced working environment


•      An understanding of Government and Parliament would be an advantage but is not essential

Employment conditions:

· The positions are offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement which include:

· A commencing salary between $76,910- $89,793 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills

· An additional optional allowance of up to $27,865 (dependent on skills and/or previous experience) will be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work

· An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable

· An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.

· The successful applicants will be required to comply with the Behaviour Code for Staff employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984.

· The successful applicants may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.

· Applicants are required to obtain and maintain security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 2 and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.
