Central Highlands Regional, Australia Coronado Global Resources Full time US$90,000 - US$120,000 per year

Join Coronado as a Mine Surveyor at our Curragh Complex, where our 7/7 roster supports a sustainable and fulfilling career in the mining industry.

CORONADO GLOBAL RESOURCES is one of the world's biggest producers of high-quality metallurgical coal. Our global operations are located in two of the largest and most productive metallurgical coal basins in the world, the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia and the Central Appalachian region of the US, servicing customers throughout the Asia-Pacific, Americas and European regions.

Curragh Mine, near Blackwater, is one of the largest open-cut coal mines in the Queensland Bowen Basin and is unique in that it has two Coal Handling Preparation Plants.

About The Role

Coronado is seeking a dedicated Mine Surveyor to join our Curragh North team on a lifestyle-friendly 7/7 roster. This permanent role offers competitive remuneration and subsidised accommodation options—including housing or camp facilities in Blackwater—to suit your lifestyle preferences.

As a Mine Surveyor, you'll play a crucial role in delivering precise survey services, including pit design set-outs, topographic surveys, volume calculations, and reconciliations. Your expertise will support critical reporting and analysis while ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality surveying activities to support Curragh North operations in achieving production targets.
  • Provide timely and accurate set-outs for pit operations, encompassing ROMs, trucks and excavators, drill and blast, draglines, dozers, dumps, geotechnical and geological requirements, incident site scanning, water level pickups, volume calculations, and reporting.
  • Utilise surveying equipment and technologies to collect and process accurate spatial data in accordance with site procedures.
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate survey data in line with statutory and company standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date mine survey records and prepare daily, weekly, and end-of-month survey reports promptly.
  • Review and update all survey practices and procedures to align with best practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in surveying or a related field (RePL (CASA Multi Rotor UAV) preferred).
  • Proven experience as a surveyor, ideally within the mining and resources sector.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment such as Leica Total Stations, Optech CMS, DJI drones, and Trimble GNSS.
  • Experience with surveying software, including Vulcan, Deswik, or Surpac.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mining regulations, safety protocols, and quality assurance practices..

What we offer

With a short 15-minute drive to work every day and 2.5 hours from the Capricorn Coast, there are not many mine sites that can boast a quicker daily commute, or the ability to reside on the coast spending work time in company accommodation and days off on the beach.

You'll have access to excellent training and development alongside a dedicated group of people who'll support you every step of the way.

Join a unique workplace that allows you to get involved, share your experiences, and leave a mark in a way that isn't possible elsewhere.
