The Gig

With a strong growth agenda backed by a concentrated pipeline of land development projects, an opportunity has emerged for a commercially astute, detail-driven, and people-focused
Group Financial Controller
to join the executive leadership team. With a clear growth agenda and increasing project complexity, the business is seeking someone who combines technical financial leadership with strategic thinking and development sector insight.

Based in Sydney's CBD and reporting directly to the Managing Director
, you'll lead the finance function across multiple entities and projects, providing oversight of reporting, compliance, cash flow, budgeting, banking, and team leadership. This is a hands-on, high-trust role where you'll help shape financial strategy and bring visibility to key drivers across active and planned developments.

You will be trusted with;

  • Leading the finance function across the group, setting frameworks for control and reporting
  • Managing and mentoring a team of accountants across multiple business entities
  • Overseeing financial reporting, compliance, tax, and audit obligations across jurisdictions
  • Driving forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting aligned to business objectives
  • Assessing project feasibility and development cash flows using tools such as Estate Master
  • Liaising with banking partners, non-bank lenders, and external advisors to support funding strategy
  • Supporting executive decision-making through clear analysis, reporting, and recommendations
  • Improving financial systems, controls, and processes to support growth and reduce risk
  • Maintaining detailed oversight of intercompany transactions and balance sheet integrity
  • Acting as a key commercial advisor to the Managing Director and broader executive team

What you bring

  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline (CA/CPA preferred)
  • 7–10+ years' experience in senior finance roles, ideally across property or development
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-entity finance operations and accounting teams
  • Deep understanding of property development funding structures, project feasibility, and tax implications
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian financial reporting, tax law, and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent commercial acumen, communication skills, and strategic thinking
  • Experience with financial modelling and reporting tools (Estate Master ideal)
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving, founder-led, growth-focused environments
