Lawmee
is Australia's leading legal secondments marketplace, connecting lawyers, paralegals, and company secretaries with in-house and law firm opportunities - faster than ever before.
Our purpose-built online platform puts you in the driver's seat, giving you more control over how, when, and where you work.
We're looking to engage two experienced Senior Legal Counsels on a contract basis.
You'll join a growing in-house legal team supporting one of Australia's major energy retailers. These senior-level roles focus on legal and retail regulatory matters within customer business units, offering a unique opportunity to influence compliance strategy, manage enforcement issues, and drive legal innovation.
Commencing as soon as possible, these opportunities are available ideally on a full-time (5 days a week) basis and are expected to run through to December 2025, with strong potential for extension.
You will work closely with a collaborative and supportive team and act as the primary legal contact for customer business units on retail regulatory matters.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic advice and managing complex legal and compliance scenarios
- Supporting litigation and enforcement matters
- Overseeing external counsel and resource allocation
- Leading legal process improvements and developing training tools for internal teams
We're keen to speak with lawyers who have 8-25+ years' PAE and experience in regulatory and compliance matters. The preferred candidates will be available to work on-site or under a hybrid working arrangement, with flexible working options also considered. A strong background in energy retail regulation or similar consumer-facing regulatory environments will be highly regarded.
Interviews will be scheduled shortly, with the engagement commencing ASAP. Hourly rates will depend on experience and ability to deliver on the brief.
